The big bang

10th of May isn’t a date many of us here are likely to forget. Greg was reading some marketing stuff I’d written for Project Cerberus and I decided to go and put the telly on… As I walked out of the office to go down to the house there was a huge bang, the door was pulled from my hand and slammed shut and the back doors of the house flew open. Momentarily there was also a roof in the air, where seconds earlier there had been blue sky. I’m not going to go into huge details, it wasn’t nice, it had a horrible effect on the people who experienced it and it really made us take a long hard look at life.

The first couple of weeks (when I wasn’t recovering from a barrage of cluster migraines) were spent largely sitting at our desks going ‘What’s the point? ‘Why are we doing this?’ ‘Life is too short’ and yet that didn’t make any kind of sense when you look at the fantastic clients we work with – the ones who make it a joy to amble down to the office and start the day. Neither of us could concentrate, we didn’t want to leave the house (as you could have simply pushed the front windows in) and we felt – frankly – lost.

Everyone on the street rallied round. We were organising a jubilee party anyway but decided to change it to a ‘celebration party’ as no-one was seriously physically injured. The phrase that snapped me out of my stupor was ‘We should have a community website really’ so I built one – almost on my own (those pesky nested elements – I’m NOT the coder) and suddenly I realised… I was working again…

Once the windows were reseated we took a short break before the major plastering started. We had a ‘planning meeting’ on the harbour wall at Wells-next-the-Sea, eating fish and chips and watching the boats come in. We know what’s happening with Project Cerberus (and we’ll be announcing it soon) and we’ve got our mojo back.

There are too many people to thank for their kindness and understanding whilst we got sorted out (and whilst we’re still dashing between house and office to check on building work) but we just wanted to let you know we’re back, we’re open for business and we’re looking forward to helping more great clients with their Shopify and ExpressionEngine projects.
